These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Helm, an iOS application published by Cappsule Teknoloji Yazılım ve Dan. Tic. Ltd. Şti. ("Cappsule," "we," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Helm, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The agreement.
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Cappsule Teknoloji Yazılım ve Dan. Tic. Ltd. Şti., a company registered in İstanbul, Türkiye (Mersis 0203078771200001).
This agreement is between you and Cappsule only — not with Apple. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for Helm or its contents. See § 14 for the terms Apple requires us to state.
Your use of Helm is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
What Helm is.
Helm is a local remote control for macOS. It discovers Macs on your local network via Bonjour, opens an SSH session to the Mac you choose, and sends shell commands on your behalf: pointer and keyboard input, audio and brightness, media transport, screenshots, storage and Bluetooth panels, running apps, browser tabs, and power actions.
- No cloud relay. The session runs directly between your iPhone and your Mac. We operate no server that carries, stores, or observes your traffic.
- No account. There is no Helm sign-up, no Helm login, and no Helm-held credential.
- Your Mac must be reachable. Remote Login (SSH) has to be enabled on the Mac, and both devices must be on the same network — or on a private network you have bridged yourself.
- Requirements. iPhone running iOS 17 or later, and a Mac you can authenticate to over SSH.
Licence to use the app.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Helm on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions — including any use permitted under Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
The licence covers the app as distributed through the App Store. It does not transfer ownership of anything, and it does not permit you to:
- Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or lease the app
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notice
- Use the app outside the Usage Rules, or on a device you do not own or control
Eligibility.
Helm is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old — or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher — to use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Helm only with the consent of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Your responsibilities.
Helm executes the commands you ask for on a machine we never see. That places the following squarely with you:
- Authorisation. Connect only to Macs you own or are explicitly authorised to control. Using Helm to reach a machine without permission may be unlawful.
- Credentials. Keep your SSH username, password, and device passcode secure. Your password is held in the iOS Keychain on your device and nowhere else; we cannot recover it for you.
- Network trust. You choose the network the session travels over. Helm pins your Mac's SSH host fingerprint on first connection and refuses a changed fingerprint, but the security of the network itself is yours to judge.
- Consequences of commands. Sleep, lock, restart, shut down, force-quitting an app, and ejecting a disk act on the Mac immediately once confirmed. Unsaved work can be lost. Helm asks for confirmation on halt-state actions, but it cannot know what is open on the other side.
- Your data. Screenshots you save, clipboard contents you copy, and files affected by commands you issue remain your responsibility. Keep your own backups.
- Compliance. Use Helm in accordance with the laws that apply to you and with any third-party terms that apply to the software you control through it.
Acceptable use.
You agree not to use Helm to:
- Gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any computer, account, or network
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on any system or network
- Monitor or control a person's machine without their knowledge and consent
- Break any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right
- Circumvent the Helm Pro purchase or any technical restriction in the app
Helm Pro & payment.
7.1 — What Pro unlocks
Trackpad, keyboard, audio, brightness, power, and settings are available without payment. Helm Pro unlocks seven further panels — Media, Screenshot, Storage, Bluetooth, Apps, Tabs, Appearance — together with adjustable trackpad sensitivity and the keyboard's text input, window, navigation, system, and special-key sections. The free tier's keyboard covers the clipboard and edit shortcuts.
We may change what a given tier includes in future versions. Panels already unlocked by a completed Pro purchase stay unlocked.
7.2 — One-time purchase
Helm Pro is a single non-consumable in-app purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. Once unlocked, Pro stays unlocked for the Apple ID that bought it, on that Apple ID's devices, and can be restored at any time from Settings → Restore Purchases.
7.3 — Prices & billing
Prices are shown in the app before purchase, set per App Store storefront, and may change for future purchases. All payments are collected and processed by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We never see or handle your payment details.
7.4 — Refunds
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us, and are subject to Apple's policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com ↗. Any statutory withdrawal or consumer rights you hold under the law of your country are unaffected by this section. If something is wrong with the app itself, write to us — we would rather fix it.
Third-party software & services.
8.1 — Optional helpers on your Mac
Full pointer control and Bluetooth switching rely on two small open-source command-line tools that you choose to install on your Mac:
cliclick— pointer and keyboard simulation (BSD-licensed)blueutil— Bluetooth connect/disconnect (MIT-licensed)
These tools are not ours. They are licensed to you by their respective authors under their own terms, we do not distribute them, and we are not responsible for them. Helm works without them; the panels that depend on them simply report that the helper is missing.
8.2 — Services inside the app
Helm uses Apple's StoreKit for purchases, the iOS Keychain for credential storage, Bonjour for local discovery, and Google Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage events (which you can switch off in Settings → Privacy). Their handling of data is described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms.
8.3 — macOS itself
Helm asks macOS for permissions on your behalf — Screen Recording for screenshots, Accessibility for pointer control, Automation for media and browser panels. Granting or refusing them is your decision, made in macOS, not in Helm.
Availability & updates.
- No uptime promise. Helm is software you run, not a service we host. We make no guarantee that every instrument will work with every macOS version, network configuration, or third-party app.
- Updates. We may release updates that add, change, or remove features. Some updates may require a newer version of iOS or macOS.
- Support. Support is provided by us, by email, at our discretion — see § 18. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for Helm.
- Discontinuation. We may stop distributing or supporting Helm. If that happens, the app already on your device keeps working for as long as your devices and macOS allow.
Intellectual property.
Helm, its source code, design, interface, wordmark, icon, and all related materials are owned by Cappsule Teknoloji Yazılım ve Dan. Tic. Ltd. Şti. and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms grant you a licence to use the app — nothing more.
Open-source components included in the app remain under their own licences, and those licences prevail over this section for the components they cover.
Anything you create with Helm — your screenshots, your files, your configuration — is yours. We claim no rights over it.
Privacy.
What Helm collects, and what it deliberately does not, is set out in the Privacy Policy. In short: your credentials stay in the iOS Keychain, your shell traffic never leaves the path between your iPhone and your Mac, and the only telemetry is an anonymous set of usage events you can switch off in Settings → Privacy.
Disclaimer of warranties.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Helm is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular Mac, macOS version, network, or third-party application, nor that defects will be corrected.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and your statutory consumer rights remain intact.
Limitation of liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cappsule shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, loss of profit, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of Helm — including damage or data loss on a Mac resulting from a command sent through the app.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Helm shall not exceed the greater of the amount you actually paid for the app and its in-app purchase in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including mandatory consumer rights under Turkish law or the law of your country of residence.
Apple-specific terms.
Because Helm is distributed through the App Store, the following terms apply and prevail over anything inconsistent elsewhere in this document:
- Acknowledgement. These Terms are concluded between you and Cappsule only, not with Apple. Cappsule alone is responsible for Helm and its content.
- Scope of licence. The licence granted in § 03 is non-transferable and limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as set out in the App Store Usage Rules.
- Maintenance and support. Cappsule is solely responsible for any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services.
- Warranty. Cappsule is solely responsible for any product warranties, express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If Helm fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Helm.
- Product claims. Cappsule, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to Helm, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property claims. In the event of a third-party claim that Helm infringes that party's intellectual property rights, Cappsule alone is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you comply with the embargo and prohibited-party terms set out in § 04.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Helm.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
- Developer contact. Questions, complaints, and claims concerning Helm should be directed to Cappsule at the address in § 18.
Term & termination.
These Terms apply for as long as you use Helm. You may end the agreement at any time by deleting the app, which also removes its locally stored data and Keychain entries.
We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms — in particular § 06. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) continue to apply.
Governing law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts and enforcement offices of İstanbul (Çağlayan), Türkiye have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, nor of the right to bring proceedings before the consumer arbitration committees or courts available to you there.
Changes to these Terms.
We may update these Terms as the app changes or the law requires. Any change will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be signalled in the app or in release notes where practical. Continued use of Helm after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If a provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force and the unenforceable provision is applied to the maximum extent permitted.
